Welcome to the Patten Academy website. Thank you for taking the time to learn about our school. Patten Academy – a place where students Believe, Achieve and Succeed.
Patten Academy was founded in 1944 with the purpose of providing a quality education for young people from K-12 in an atmosphere reflective of the teaching and values of Jesus Christ, and has remained true to its purpose some 70 plus years.
Patten Academy serves an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse population of young people in the Fruitvale District of Oakland, California, equipping them academically and spiritually for life. Small class sizes allow each student to get the individual attention they need. Innovative project based learning activities allow for success in individual learning styles. Co-curricular activities also enhance the learning experiences for our students.
The college preparatory program and co-curricular opportunities provides the rigor and experience to not only prepare students for a successful career but to also live out the greatest commandment of loving God and loving their neighbor. Patten Academy strives to encourage young people to take what they learn and share it in their communities and we celebrate their accomplishments.
The Board of Trustees, administration, faculty and staff are dedicated to encouraging and supporting our young people to reach their God given potential. If this sounds like what you are looking for I personally invite you to come and visit our campus and learn more about Patten Academy.

Philosophy of EducationThe school philosophy grows out of the purpose to maintain a coeducational institution in which students can complete primary, intermediate, junior and senior high studies in an atmosphere reflective of the teachings and values of Jesus Christ. PACE maintains that in order for education to be complete it must help students develop and grow spiritually, intellectually, socially, aesthetically and physically. The Patten Academy board of trustees, administration, staff, faculty, students, and other stakeholder groups have reviewed the philosophy of the school in light of the Expected School-wide Learning Results, otherwise known as (ESLR’s)
